The South Shore Youth Foundation (SSYF) was founded in 2014 by Michael and Lisa Garner. Their desire to start the foundation stemmed from years of involvement with local youth organizations and understanding the struggles they have in funding. The initial money to build the foundation came from donations that where made from the sale of each home Michael and Lisa’s real estate team made. The team donates $500 to the foundation from the purchase or sale of each home.
Today they continue to do the same by donating $250 to the foundation at closing on behalf of their clients. The costs associated with running youth organizations and programs have continued to escalate to a point where families may have to choose which child can and cannot participate. Seeing families struggle and wanting to help them and the community, the foundation enables youth to be part of a sports team, dance group, band, Boys & Girl Scouts and more.
The foundation helps families with financial assistance towards Registration Fees so their children may be able to participate in activities; without the organization waiving very important fees that are critical to their operations.
The foundation will also help organizations purchase the necessary supplies and equipment that have been stolen or damaged that they needed to keep programs running at optimum levels.
